The following is a brief but not exhaustive explanation of some of the services offered at Chris Bayly Architects
Initial Concept Design / Feasibility Studies
Occasionally it is necessary to test different options and ideas to establish a design in principle. This can be in the form of a hand drawn sketch, a 3D digital model or with a physical model.
3D Visualisations and Animations
Chris Bayly has experience with creating 3D models and creating interactive 3D environments that can be experienced as a Virtual Reality walkthrough or in the form of a video.
Planning Applications / Permitted Development
Chris has a wide depth of experience in submitting Planning Applications and Certificates of Lawful Development (Permitted Development) for a wide variety of different projects including new build houses in the countryside, inner city sites, AONBs, Conservation Areas and National Parks.
Listed Building Applications
Chris has a good level of experience working with Listed Building Application and feels that building a good working relationship with a Conservation Officer is important combined with a good understanding of the history of the relevant building.
Measurement Surveys / Existing Set of Drawings
A measurement survey is usually a straightforward task for an architect, however, the time taken in measuring, photographing and drawing the existing building is a very useful exercise in understanding a building’s construction and its potential for improvement.
Detailed Design / Building Regulation Applications
A good set of Detailed Design drawings will communicate everything that a builder needs to complete the project. In addition, Building Control requirements need to be met and it is usually advisable to ensure that these requirements are met before work starts on site to avoid any unforeseen delays.
Tender Packages / Contract Administration
A thorough and complete package of drawings and documents is important in obtaining an accurate price for a project, this is something Chris Bayly has extensive experience with. As a project progresses and a contractor/builder has been appointed an Architect is well placed to provide their services as a Contract Administrator throughout the project build.
On Site Supervision / Defects Inspections
Building projects occasionally throw-up unexpected challenges, retaining an Architect’s services to resolve these challenges is advisable as well as having the Architect on-hand to inspect the quality of the work and ensure it is consistent with the contract drawings and documents. This inspection service can be extended beyond the completion of the project when ‘hidden’ defects become apparent.
